Kneeling at the Cross

On Good Friday, we go through the entire Passion narrative: Jesus from the time He finishes His prayer in the garden until He is crucified. He is arrested and goes willingly, stopping Peter from harming anyone involved in arresting Him. It is astounding to really read the story and see how the Jewish leaders have no case against Jesus. At one point, their claim is “If he were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.” Wow. Powerful testimony. They arrest Him at night, so the people can’t protest, and they have organized a mob to demand His crucifixion during the day. His friends deny Him and flee. He is left completely alone, and He continues to make His way to the Cross. Tonight we kneel at the foot of the Cross and remember. We lay our lives at His feet. Do you feel His love for you? I do, and I am overwhelmed.
