Time to Change

I am so sad to see another reason for protests and unrest in the death of an unarmed black man at the hands of New York police.  It is so frustrating to think that we as a country still have such a problem.  It’s not so bad, right?  Surely things have changed since the 60’s.  But change takes time.  We get to a level of comfort that is admittedly better than it was, but then we need something to irritate us, to get our attention and move to the next level.  Doesn’t God do that to us all the time?  We think we’re fine, and then He’ll poke us and make us move to a better place, over and over again.  Yes, things are better.  No they are not good enough.  Can we grow in this?  We are being called to do so.  It is not a time to be frightened. It is a time to be honest, empathetic, and to realize that this is a perfect time to change the world.
