Yesterday, we had these large, black smudges on our foreheads, marking us for Lent. Some people wash them off right away, but others leave them on as a sign of who they are. We have plenty of things that advertise our identities – our clothes, jewelry, bumper stickers, and yard signs, just to name a few. Sometimes, we aren’t even sure what we are saying. But one thing is sure – all the coverings in the world won’t fool anyone if you aren’t living it. In fact, if you are living it, you don’t even need the coverings. People can tell, even when you’ve left them all behind. Today, look at what you say about who you are with the coverings. Does it match who you want to be, or the actions that you show? Try to bring them closer together if they don’t.
