Do you know what I love about Reconciliation? The grace that comes with it. Yes, I can tell God that I am sorry for the things I have done wrong and ask Him for help with areas of my life that I’m not doing well, but when I go into that confessional, and have to lay it bare and physically ask for forgiveness, there is a grace I receive through it that I don’t get otherwise. There is a strength to move in a different direction. There is a wiping clean that I haven’t been able to do myself in prayer, and heaven knows I try. No, God doesn’t need the confessional to forgive us, we do. And what a beautiful gift it is.
