Graduation Day

It is graduation day today. There have been weeks of events and ceremonies and celebrations leading up to this, and it’s hard to imagine that it is here. It’s a time of endings and new beginnings, a time of sadness for distances that will come between friends and anticipation of new, lifelong friends to come. When I think back to my own graduation, it’s incredible to think how little I knew about what my life would be like. There are many times in our lives where we will experience those endings/beginnings, and standing at the precipice can be daunting. But we know, as my favorite verse says, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope.” (Jer 29:11) Even when the endings seem final, we know that there is always another beginning, and we can look through with hope.
