Last weekend’s readings were a little tough. The first one (Ezekiel 2:2-5) was God telling Ezekiel to speak to the Israelites, but explained that they were stubborn, and known for rebelling against God. Tough crowd to say the least. The line that stuck with me was the last one, though. “Whether they heed or resist – for they are a rebellious house – they shall know that a prophet has been among them.” (Ez 2:5) Even if they don’t pay attention, they will know on some level that God has spoken. They will know on some level that they are turning against or toward something greater than some person with an opinion. I think we know that, too. We know when God has spoken to us. We know when we don’t want to hear it and turn away. We know when something draws us closer and fills our spirit with something more than good feelings. We know.
