Right Before Your Eyes

Have you ever lost your glasses or sunglasses and realized that they were on your face, or sitting on top of your head? I can still picture my husband telling me, “Go like this,” as he touches the bridge of his nose with his finger. Totally embarrassing – how could I miss that I was actually wearing them? I do that with answered prayers, too. I ask for peace and rest, and when I get it, I feel like I’m not getting anything done, and I should be doing more. So, rather than enjoy this space that I have been given, I fill it with things that I don’t really even need to be doing. I know I’m not the only one who does this. Fortunately, this time, I had a moment where I realized that I was living exactly what I had been praying for. So, I stopped running around filling it up. I appreciated that I had time to reconnect with friends, and time to be present to my family. And of course, I was grateful.
