Heaven

Have you ever wondered what heaven is like? At the end of the Nicene Creed, we say that we believe in the life in the world to come. As I prayed that this morning, I started to think about what that really meant. What would life be like? One description is that we have a Beatific Vision. It made me think about looking at a sunset or a beautiful vista. I could sit and look for a long time, but after a while, I would need to get up and move, do something productive, or just do something else. But, in heaven all those needs are fulfilled. There is no need that hasn’t been met. No need for food, no need to move, no need to find meaning, no need to exercise. Nothing is lacking, and we are complete. I think we have glimpses here and there – when we are lost in a moment, completely at peace with ourselves, or sitting soaking in that beautiful sunset without any distractions. It’s not boring, it’s amazing.
