I almost hate to address this latest shooting. Is it just getting repetitive and becoming a part of life now, or is it something to get angry about, or is it something that shakes our faith and makes us wonder if God really cares at all? I would venture to say that at least a little bit of each of those is true. As I thought about it, I was reminded of a time when the disciples could not drive out a demon and asked Jesus why. He drove out the demon and answered, “This kind can only come out through prayer (and through fasting)”. (Mark 9:29) We are in a time that has been building for many years. This will not end quickly, nor will it end easily. It will not end by turning away from God, but rather going to Him as the disciples did. This kind requires prayer, fasting, and perseverance. May we all be able to hold onto the hope that is required in it.
