We all have those moments where everything just seems to be a little too much. Whether we’ve just overcommitted, everything seems to be going wrong with no plans working out the way we wanted, or something has hit us out of the blue and knocked us off our feet. I’ve had several people around me feeling this way lately, and a line from a wonderful song I heard keeps ringing in my ears. “Your life’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place.” (Just Be Held by Casting Crowns) I’ve lived this myself, and I know that it is so hard to see when it seems like things are being taken away. I also know that if you let God into it, you will move to a place that you didn’t know you could be. You will lose parts of yourself that needed to be lost, and you will gain things that will form you into something wonderful. You can grow in faith and trust, and learn the truth that you are not in control of your destiny. Someone who knows much better is. That’s how we can come to a place of gratitude in our sufferings. It’s the knowing that something greater is at work here. May we all be able to remember that when we need it.
