Vacation Time

IMG_8259 (1)Wouldn’t it be incredible if your company offered unlimited vacation? I would think that everyone would be taking multiple vacations a year. Pretty day? Taking a vacation day. How many trips can I plan? All of them. A friend’s company  did this, and they actually found the opposite. People took less vacation than when they were given limits. Management even insisted that people take vacation, to little effect. Turns out that when you have days in the bank, you feel that you are justified in taking them. If you have none, then every day you take feels like you don’t have a right to it. So what, you may ask, does this have to do with God? Actually, there are several directions I could go. The most obvious would be keeping the Sabbath. Those are moments of rest that we are given, and actually required to do. It’s a commandment. In God’s wisdom, there is great power in rest, vacation, Sabbath. Whether it is taking a day to step away from the world once a week, or taking a vacation over spring break with your family, you come back with new energy, fresh ideas, and new perspective. It’s a scientific fact. Don’t worry that you don’t have any vacation in the bank. It’s all there waiting for you. Use it.
