The apostles had such great faith. Jesus had prepared them, told them that they were to go into the world, spread the word, and they did. It makes sense. They had been with Jesus. They had actually heard from His lips, and seen Him after the resurrection. Well, actually, it still wasn’t enough. They were locked in a room, afraid for their lives, hiding from the world, until the Holy Spirit showed up. That’s when all the work began. That’s when they started preaching to the world, not thinking about the cost; sticking to their guns, even as it meant the death of every one of them but John. That’s some serious power. The thing is, that is the power that we have, if we’ll tap into it. So, how do we do that? We pray, we read, we listen, and we wait. Sometimes it is through difficult times, but we wait in hope, because, “we know that all things work for good for those who love God” (Romans 8:28) So whether we are still in the locked room, or we have burst through the doors, we remember that we have been promised this Spirit. It will come.
