Okay, how many of you have a list of questions you plan on pulling out when you get to the pearly gates? We probably all do, from the simple “Why are there mosquitos?” to the deeper, “Why did this tragedy have to happen?” The thought of finally being able to see the whole picture is definitely enticing. So, as I read about Jesus’ talk to the disciples at the Last Supper, I was a little confused.
“So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. On that day you will not question me about anything.” (John 16:22-23a)
Not anything? It made me think of a time when I found out the details of a situation that had been obscured for years. There were so many things that had happened over that time and I was dying to have them each explained. Hardly anything made sense. Turns out that there was one detail that was the hinge to the whole thing. All the pieces fell into place and I had absolutely no questions. Sounds like it might be the same in heaven.
