Fall is finally arriving. Summer can take so long to leave in Texas, and I just relish these days when the morning air is crisp and the afternoons are bright with a cool breeze gently waving the leaves and flowers in the yard. For our family, it is time to get outside and enjoy the world again. I feel the same every time the seasons change. Each one has something to look forward to or something to enjoy. Whether swimming in the summer, being outside in the fall, sweaters and soup in the winter, or new flowers and plants in the spring, each change brings something new. At the same time, each one brings its challenges. Shorter days in the fall, cold days in the winter, rain in the spring, and sweltering heat in the summer can all be hard to deal with.
It’s interesting that the one is not possible without the other. Cooler temperatures are not possible without shorter days. New growth is not possible without rain. Sometimes the challenges are what allow the blessings to come in the first place. And so it goes with our own lives. There will be new seasons. There will be challenges. There will be blessings that will rise from them. We just need to remember to get out there and look.
