Lighting the way

After a Presidential election where one person wins the popular vote, and one wins the electoral vote, it is clear that if we are not a nation divided we are at least  nation conflicted. Whatever side you were on, or whatever side you were against, we go forward today as we have for over two hundred years, asking God to bless our country, protect us from harm, and guide us into the future. We have seen many weaknesses in the process, and some have been exposed in an ugly way. This has not been the proudest moment for our country, but it can be a powerful moment for our country. We can decide now how we will react. We can decide now what we want to be.

It is daunting to think that anything any one of us does can make a difference, but we have been given many witnesses of people who have little education, little power, little money and yet somehow change the world around them and the world in general. Jesus is one, Saint Theresa (Mother Theresa) another, Pope Francis is yet another. We are called to be a light to the world, and that cannot be changed by any election result.
