It’s a simple pleasure to be able to sit and watch the wind rustle through the leaves of fall, with their tinge of fall color and their tenuous hold on the branches of the tree. As I watch the leaves in the trees of my yard, I think of Jesus’ saying, “The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)
When you see God at work in your life, you rarely have any idea where it will come from, and can hardly imagine the effect that it will have. Sometimes, it has the force of a hurricane gale, and at other times it is the gentlest kiss of a breeze. If you watch the trees, you can see a slight shift in the wind that you can hardly feel. If you watch in your life and in the things happening around you, it is possible to see God at work in the smallest of moments. It’s funny. Just as with the wind, there is rarely a moment when it is all completely still.
