Jesse Tree Day 9: Moses is out tending his sheep when he sees a burning bush that isn’t being burned. Curious, he goes over to check it out. God speaks to him from the bush saying, “I need you to lead my people out of slavery in Egypt.” Moses’ response? “Uh… nope.” God gives him some proof that this is legit, and Moses says, “Still… nope.” This back and forth goes on for a while until God gives Moses some assistance in his brother Aaron, and promises that He will be the one running the show. The rest is history.
How often do we hear a call from God, or that nudge in our heart that we know we should follow, but we just don’t want to? I know of several stories where God kept insisting, showing up, dropping hints, and finally the person answered. Each time, it ended with blessing, grace, and awe from the person who finally followed where God was leading.
Lesson for today? “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will enter his house and dine with him, and him with me.” (Rev. 3:20)
Answer the door.
