New year, new start

A Path in the Woods, Pontoise (Pisarro)

Happy New Year! I’ve said before that I always love beginnings. The start of spring as the plants start to grow, the beginning of the school year, and the beginning of a new calendar year are all points to stop for a moment and reflect. How often do we look back and see where our wanderings have taken us? How often do we stop to see if we are on the path God has for us? If you haven’t yet, do it now.

Where did you think your year was going last January? Did God surprise you? Did He make you wait for something? Are you still waiting? Where did you see God’s face or His work in your life? Do you still see the effects? Did you listen to His call, or did you avoid it because you didn’t like where it was going? Can you find the courage to step up and answer? Where is He calling you now?

When we are given a chance to stop and recenter, we should take it, because the reality is that we get busy and our lives start to focus on the activity not on the meaning. May you have a wonderful and blessed 2017, where God is greatly present in your life.

“See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)
