A friend of mine is on this incredible journey. Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, the entire process has been one of watching God work, which is really not what you would expect at all. Her latest God moment is an understanding that she is to talk to one of her doctors, because she felt God calling him, and she could hear. She plans to tell him, “God wants more of you.”
When she told me that yesterday, it resonated throughout my being. That message is not just for the doctor, it is for us. God wants more of us. He doesn’t just want our Sunday hour, or even our evening prayers. He wants it all, and nothing less is enough. He wants our failures, our triumphs, our boring times, our exciting times. He wants us. Totally. Completely.
The whole thing is this crazy scale of economy. The more we give, the more we get. The more we open our lives to God and allow Him to be a part of our situations, the more we see that He works even something as scary as cancer for good. The more we open ourselves, the more we receive of grace, wonder, delight, and awe. So, I tell you now, “God wants more of you.” Believe me.
