“Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades.”
So many parts of this song speak to me, but this line stands out a bit more brightly for me today.
When everything else is gone, when everything has fallen away, when all is said and done, the emptiness is filled with a light that cannot be extinguished. This is the base and core of our existence.
As St. Augustine said, “Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.” Sometimes, we can find that rest in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the everyday world. Sometimes, we need everything to come to a complete stop in order to find that light that we have been missing all along.
If we can tap into this light, if we can remind ourselves of this Spirit that is with us always, then it shines through us. In the light and in the darkness. For us, and for all who come into contact with us. It’s unstoppable, solid, and filled with peace and joy.
May we all be able to find a little of that light in our day today.
