Looking for Failure

I just heard for the second time this week about how failure is a great thing.  Now, it is not fun to fail or to be wrong, but a leading researcher being interviewed said that she looks for failures, because that is where she learns the most.  The head of a charitable organization told me that he gets these beautiful resumes – great school, great grades, great experience – and he puts them aside in the interview and says, “Tell me about your 5 greatest failures and how you handled them.”  That is where you find someone’s true character, and you want the kind of person who can face failure and see opportunity.  Still not easy to fail, but easier to step back and look for the lesson or blessing when you see it that way.
