One of my favorite things to hear is, “I need to tell you something, because you’ll understand.” It means that someone has had an incredible God moment in their lives and they just have to share it. Fortunately, they know that I will listen and believe. Because, sometimes it’s hard to believe that God does what He does. Sometimes, it’s hard to explain how some small moment means the world.
I think of this as I read the Bible. Can you imagine trying to explain God to people who have never heard of Him? Explaining how Jesus showed up in your locked room and let you touch His wounds and ate some fish? It really happened. How in the world would you ever explain it? How does Paul explain the vision he had that changed him from a persecutor of the Christians to their biggest promoter? Read and see. They explain again and again. They try to be as clear as they can, and they don’t stop sharing their stories. Except for Paul, they were not scholars or rabbis. They were simple people who just shared their experiences, and people listened and wanted it for themselves. It’s just that simple. Simple to read, and simple to do.
